IE converts old ‘hopper hut’ into a hub of development

For over 10 years, Innovative Edge have been lucky to work in a converted Oast House in the beautiful Kent countryside. The latest addition to our expanding office environment is the old ‘hopper hut’. The hut has been converted into a thriving ‘hub’ for our development and service teams.

History

A ‘hopper hut’ was a form of temporary accommodation provided for hop workers on English farms during the 19th and 20th Century. Typically sanitary and sleeping conditions were very basic, with hay or straw normally used as bedding. Rumour has it that the hop workers here thought their hut was ‘luxurious’ because it had a roof!

New in 2018

As of this month, the converted hut houses our innovative development and service teams. It includes super-fast broadband, a kitchen, an open-plan office space with countryside views, and washroom facilities that the hop workers of yesteryear could only have dreamed of.
