Launch Excellence Programme Design & Delivery Manager

Role and Responsibilities

To design and deliver launch excellence programmes for our clients. You will:

  • Lead scoping, brainstorming and needs analysis sessions with our clients
  • Work cross-functionally within IE to bring together all the skills and capabilities necessary to produce well thought-through and robust programme proposals
  • Present proposals to clients
  • Translate the agreed proposals into Statements of Work
  • Act as the main point of contact for the client lead, for projects you are assigned as lead
  • Ensure the project team works smoothly together, take remedial action as necessary to ensure the team delivers to a high quality, on time within budget and client satisfaction is exceeded
  • Prepare and facilitate client launch framework and project planning workshops
  • Validate and provide strategic counsel on launch project plans and key performance indicators/metrics
  • Create tools and templates for our clients to improve launch consistency e.g. workshop design, dashboard design, training programmes, project management tools and templates
  • Brief and manage agency relationships
  • Participate in and/or facilitate project after-action reviews (AARs). Ensure learnings are captured and actions are implemented to achieve continuous improvement

The key attributes we would expect the successful candidate to have are:

  • 5+ years’ pre and post-launch experience (-2 years to +2 years) within a pharmaceutical organisation. Above country ‘Internal consultancy / Centre of Excellence’ experience would be an added advantage
  • Affiliate commercial core launch team experience (2+ recent NCE or substantial new indication launches) in marketing/ market access
  • Launch experience within the EU5 or the US and Japan with a good grasp of their healthcare systems
  • Orphan drug or oncology launch experience would be desirable
  • Experience of leading or working in cross-functional matrix launch teams
  • Experience of collaborating with medical, supply, regulatory, commercial excellence and sales training to deliver a launch, with a good understanding of what their deliverables are
  • Experience of Launch Readiness Review Meetings and above country / affiliate launch collaboration
  • Proven prior experience of managing complex, large projects with multiple stakeholders across different workstreams
  • Excellent communication, customer engagement and influencing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects at one time
  • High concern for quality and ability to work with detail, ensuring all personal and project team outputs and deliverables are to the correct standard
  • Work well within a matrix team, putting the priorities of the organisation first
  • Strong compliance mindset with a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework for working within the pharmaceutical sector
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills: Confident using PPT, Excel and Word
  • Tech savvy: Comfortable using remote workshop technology, Ignite (IE’s Launch Excellence technology) and (CRM system)

Launch Excellence Project Manager

Role and Responsibilities

An opportunity now arises. Specifically, we are looking for talented freelance associates to join us as Launch Excellence (LEx) Project Managers with responsibility for ensuring client pharma launch projects are implemented efficiently and effectively according to well-thought through and achievable launch plans. Clients may wish the PM to be based at their site for the full length of the contract when offices re-open, or as many of our projects are with international teams there is the opportunity to work remotely.

As LEx PM, you will be the glue that holds clients’ global commercial launch teams together. You will do this by…

  • Acting as a champion for the launch excellence teams within our pharma clients by encouraging compliance with launch excellence frameworks, tools and project management methodology.
  • Supporting the commercial launch lead as the launch project team come together and agree their accountabilities and ways of working (Initiation), and design their Launch Project Plan.
  • Preparing and co-facilitating Project Initiation and Project Planning workshops for the launch teams.
  • Updating our online project management software IGNITE with the Project Plan, and coaching the client teams on the use of this tool to ensure good uptake.
  • Updating of the Launch Project plans in IGNITE (Tracking) after gaining updates via regular 1:1s with launch leads and swimlane leads, facilitation of operational and strategic project team meetings.
  • Maintaining project templates such as Project Charter, RAID log (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions)
    • Flagging of overdue actions, milestones that may impact launch date to the Global Brand lead.
    • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging review and documentation of successes and areas for improvement throughout and after the launch.

The key attributes we would expect the successful candidate to have are:

  • 3-4 years’ experience in a pharma commercialization and launch environment at local, regional and/or global level.
  • Educated to degree level (A Biomedical discipline would be an advantage but not a necessity).
  • A project management accreditation such as PMP or PRINCE 2 is preferred although previous experience of pharma launch project management will also be taken into consideration.
  • Project management, experience of team leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to give honest and constructive feedback in an objective non -confrontational manner, presentation skills.

Role Specifics

  • The ideal candidate will be detail-focused and have the ability to maintain focus on more than one launch at a time.
  • The role may involve occasional travel to affiliate offices or to meet at congresses/ locations central to multiple Affiliates (subject to any travel restrictions in place).

Reports to – Launch Implementation Partner
Required for – Pharmaceutical client contracts. UK: Cambridge, Oxford, Surrey, Greater London. US: Boston, New Jersey.
